April every year is the month that Thailand and the world join together to campaign against and raise awareness in preventing oral cancer.
.
Oral cancer is a silent threat and a common disease in Thailand. It is often detected when the disease has advanced. Currently, there are an average of 9 new cases per day, or 3,217 cases per year. It can occur in many locations, including the tongue, gums, floor of the mouth, cheeks, palate, and lips. Major risk factors for oral cancer include smoking, alcohol consumption, chewing betel nut, wearing ill-fitting dentures, and poor oral hygiene.

33 "April of Oral Cancer Campaign Month" to promote public knowledge and understanding of oral cancer, raise awareness, and promote early detection, prevention, and treatment to reduce oral cancer mortality.
