The Ubon Ratchathani Provincial Administrative Organization is upgrading safety and emergency medical standards for the 2026 Ubon Ratchathani Candle Festival by establishing a field hospital with a comprehensive emergency medical system to accommodate the large number of citizens and tourists expected to attend the event. Mr. Kant Kalptinant, President of the Ubon Ratchathani Provincial Administrative Organization, revealed that the annual Candle Procession Festival attracts a large number of Thai and foreign tourists. Therefore, the Ubon Ratchathani Provincial Administrative Organization prioritizes thorough preparation in terms of medical and public health services to ensure that all participants receive comprehensive and safe care throughout the event.

“Public safety is at the heart of the event. Ubon Ratchathani Province has prepared medical personnel, ambulances, paramedics, paramedic equipment and standardized field hospitals with emergency medical operating systems that can reach patients quickly so that everyone can participate in the candlelight tradition with peace of mind and safety,” Karn said.

The Ubon Ratchathani Provincial Administrative Organization's field hospital will be open from July 28-30, 2026, from 7:00 AM to 10:00 PM, at the intersection opposite Wat Sri Ubon Rattanaram, the central area of ​​the event. The field hospital will serve as a screening and initial treatment center, accommodating emergency patients with an Advanced Life Support (ALS) vehicle and a team of doctors, nurses, pharmacists, and Emergency Medical Technicians (EMTs) on duty throughout the service period.

In addition, mobile first-aid units (mobile doctors) were deployed throughout the event area to provide rapid assistance to sick or injured individuals. These units consisted of professional nurses, pharmacists, emergency medical technicians (EMT-B), emergency medical resuscitation volunteers (EMR), and other volunteers, equipped with portable emergency medical kits, capable of providing initial assistance and coordinating patient transfers immediately.

The Ubon Ratchathani Provincial Administrative Organization has also fully prepared medical equipment and vehicles, including advanced life support (ALS) ambulances, vital signs monitors, life-saving equipment, standard first-aid kits, and communication systems connected to network hospitals, to ensure that assistance is provided as quickly and efficiently as possible. Within the field hospital, a patient triage system has been implemented according to international standards, divided into red and yellow zones for critically ill and emergency patients, and a green zone for general treatment and wound care.It also provides health consultations and a "white zone" offering relaxing massages by Thai traditional medicine practitioners from sub-district health promotion hospitals under the Ubon Ratchathani Provincial Administrative Organization. There is also a waiting area with complimentary drinking water for the public to facilitate those receiving services.
